I found it to be informative and easy to read

I purchased this book for a grad school class. Even though it is a textbook, I found it to be informative and easy to read. It does not read like a normal textbook, it's not as bland. I used this as a resource to write several papers from. This is one book I'm not going to sell back; I'm keeping it for reference. It includes recent content dealing with the Affordable Care Act, which is helpful. Excellent book for anyone needing it for class, or anyone who is interested in the structure of the current US health system, as well as that of other countries.

publishers supplemental website is terrible, book is good

The book comes with online access to additional content. However, the "jblearn" website has many sections where trying to access the course material returns an error message. Customer support is unresponsive. I like the content of the book but this publisher's attempt to enter into an ebook market is a complete failure.

This is a great overall view to health care

This was an assigned textbook to my Masters in Health Administration class as an introduction to health care systems. I felt that this book was very logical and had a "story-telling" nature in the delivery of information. This is a great overall view to health care, as well as provides great introductions to many aspects of health care. As others have mentioned, it has a slightly pessimistic outlook to the health care "system" in that the book does not hesitate to point out the lack of a true system.
