About the Author
Scott A. Snell is the E. Thayer Bigelow Professor of Business Administration at Darden School of Business, where he teaches courses in Leadership and Strategic Management. Prior to joining the Darden faculty in 2007, Scott was professor and director of executive education at Cornell University's Center for Advanced Human Resource Studies, and a professor of management in the Smeal College of Business at Pennsylvania State University. Scott's research focuses on strategic human resource management. He was recently listed among the top 150 most-cited scholars in the field of management. He has worked with a number of Fortune 500 companies in the United States and Europe to align investments in talent and strategic capability. Scott is co-author of four books: Managing Human Resources, Management: Leading and Collaborating in a Competitive World, M: Management and Managing People and Knowledge in Professional Service Firms. Scott has served on the boards of: the Society for Human Resource Management Foundation, the Academy of Management's Human Resource Division, the Human Resource Management Journal, the Academy of Management Journal, and the Academy of Management Review.

Shad Morris teaches courses in human resource management and international business. Prior to joining the Marriott School in 2013, Shad was an assistant professor of management and human resources at The Ohio State University and has held appointments at the Sloan School of Management at MIT, Copenhagen Business School in Denmark, and SKK Graduate School of Business in South Korea. Shad's research focuses on strategic human resource management in a global environment. He has worked for the World Bank, Management Systems International, and Alcoa. He is the recipient of the International HRM Scholarly Research Award from the Academy of Management and is currently a Faculty Fellow at Cambridge University's Centre for International Human Resource Management. In addition, Shad currently serves on the board of the International Journal of Human Resource Management and is a founding editor of the Journal of Microfinance.

George Bohlander is Professor Emeritus of Management at Arizona State University, where he taught human resources and labor relations classes. He received six outstanding teaching awards, including the Outstanding Undergraduate Teaching Excellence Award presented by the College of Business, and the ASU Parents Association Teaching Award given annually by the university. Dr. Bohlander has published more than 50 articles and monographs in professional and practitioner journals, such as National Productivity Review, HR Magazine, Employee Relations Law Journal, The Journal of Collective Bargaining in the Public Sector, and Labor Law Journal. He is also a consultant to public and private organizations and an active labor arbitrator. He received his M.B.A. from the University of Southern California and his Ph.D. from the University of California at Los Angeles.

Between the Two ot Them...

I bought the Kindle version after having trouble reading the paper version. For some reason, it was easier to read it. Same format just electronic; however, I am still glad I have both versions. Switching back and forth between the two of them sometimes is also very calming.

Richard Blum has worked in the IT industry for more than 25 years as a network and systems administrator, managing Microsoft, UNIX, Linux, and Novell servers for a network with more than 3,500 users. He has developed and teaches programming and Linux courses via the Internet to colleges and universities worldwide. Rich has a master’s degree in management information systems from Purdue University and is the author of several programming books, including Teach Yourself Python Programming for the Raspberry Pi in 24 Hours (coauthored with Christine Bresnahan, 2013, Sams Publishing), Linux Command Line and Shell Scripting Bible (coauthored with Christine Bresnahan, 2011, Wiley), Professional Linux Programming (coauthored with Jon Masters, 2007, Wiley), and Professional Assembly Language (2005, Wrox). When he’s not busy being a computer nerd, Rich enjoys spending time with his wife, Barbara, and two daughters, Katie Jane and Jessica.

Only book I found really useful for programming Arduino

Excellent book that shows all the main Arduino commands in a well organised manner. It is the only book I have found really useful as I learned the subtleties of the Arduino language, Rather than show "do this and that will happen" (as with many similar books I have read) it explains in depth the usage of the language. If you want to understand or modify existing sketches on your Arduino, this is the book you need. It is a pity about the title as it leads you to think this is a quick programming guide. It is not. It is a comprehensive in depth Arduino language sketch book.

Good book for the beginner, starts off simple, and progresses into more complication as you go along.

The book starts off very basic, like the stuff you could get from any web page on Arduino. It does move on into more interesting subject matter, including libraries, and how to complete certain tasks using Arduino code. There is a little insight into why there is more than one way to do something, but then the explanation why you would not do it that way, and he shows you a better way to do it. I would suggest this book to anyone who has very little to zero experience with Arduino, and wants more.

WOW ... what a really awesome steamy romance!!!!

I LOVED THIS BOOK! :)
Andy, who has a serious auto-immune disease, takes over a friends lease to attend a drug study for her illness. Tragan is a sexy construction worker who is suddenly stuck with a female roommate after his roomie Ethan moves to London.

The sexual chemistry between these two is sizzling and very well written. I read the book in the middle of the night and was about half way through within a couple of hours... fell asleep only to dream of Tragan LOL The book moves really fast .... after waking up I dove right back into the book and was done in a couple hours.

I would recommend this book to anyone who loves romance novels. Constructing Us was fast paced, romantic, steamy, funny, cute and a really fun read :)

In a book world that is dominated by Alpha Males, it is not often that I can come across a guy next door type of hero that can hold his own against my beloved Alpha’s. When written correctly, I can totally fall in love with those types, and in C.J. Lake’s novel Constructing Us, that is exactly what I find. Tragan is the ultimate guy next door for me. He loves his buddies, his video games, and has a blue collar job. He is wonderful!!! Don’t get me wrong, I love a good Alpha, but I’ve always been a sucker for a sweet heart.

Tragan’s roommate, Ethan, has to suddenly move overseas, but instead of leaving him without a roommate, he offers a lifelong friend of his to move in, Andy. Ethan and Tragan were never considered friends, so it’s not surprising that Ethan leaves out one important detail about his friend Andy, that is she is a woman! When Andy moves in, Tragen’s reaction is priceless, and all kinds of sexual tension is brewing. He is attracted to her from the moment he laid eyes on her, and she feels the same way. Her sweetness, her beauty and most of all her heart captivate him. He has never been in love before, and is head over heels for her.

Andy feels the same way about him, but she has a boyfriend that she kind of likes. (I phrased it that way on purpose.) She has a mystery illness that she doesn’t want to burden people with, and has a good – intentions mother that also gets in the way.

I love the scenes where they are getting to know each other. They have a sweetness together, and I really felt the chemistry jumping off the pages. As a reader, I totally wanted them together.

I’m happy to say that this book did not end with a cliffhanger, and actually I was hoping it would go the way the author wrote it. And for me, that was a great thing. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. I felt the author did a great job with her pacing of the story, and once the couple finally got together and did the deed – HOLY HOTNESS!!!! A great 5 star read!!!!

Definitely recommend!

I really enjoyed this book! Andy and Tragan have so much chemistry and their love scenes are hot! Tragan is super sexy and it was sweet how much he loved her. While Andy's disorder is intriguing, I liked that Lake didn't let it turn this book into a melodrama. Also, I thought Tragan's friends were funny. Definitely recommend for anyone looking for a fun and steamy love story!

Delightful--entertaining and informative

I spent years mildly curious about the abacus--particularly, any time I saw film of schoolkids or shopkeepers in Asia producing inerrant sums and differences with their fingers all a blur. Then, I saw this book, bundled with a little wooden abacus, and decided I'd give this ancient calculator a try.
I found the book an delight, with its friendly discussions of the history of the abacus, its variant forms from land to land (Chinese vs. Japanese, etc.), and, even its jolly little excursion into binary arithmetic on the abacus. Yes, I suppose it is a short book, and it doesn't spend a lot of pages on mathematical drill, but how many pages do you need? It's not like there's a complicated operating system or scripting language for this venerable tool...just the curious yet undeniable pleasure of sliding beads along sticks, just as people have been doing for centuries...
I should also mention that the abacus makes a great conversation piece, sitting out on the top of your Pentium tower at work. "My new palmtop," I tell everyone who asks.

Way too simple and short

If you thought you can buy this book and do arithmetic on the abacus, I'm sorry, but you're wrong. First, this book is WAY TOO SHORT to describe much. It's less than 1/2 inch thick and the size of each page is slightly bigger than that of a regular dictionary. Second, much of the sections don't relate to the abacus at all! There's one long chapte that talks about the binary system in computers and how you can use the abacus' top part to do binary arithmetic, which is basically pointless. Another chapter is a story about how a westerner gets amaze by the abacus, which is also useless. Out of the 140 pages, only about 70 pages teaches you how to use the abacus. Also, although I haven't confirmed it yet, I am not sure if the way the author describes to do multiplication and division is the correct way to use it. I'll have to check. His way makes it the same as doing everything out on paper.
But still, look at what he teaches you: adding subtraction in detail, and some multiplication and division with doubted validity. He also takes like a bunch of pages describing adding and subtracting decimals. But that's unnecessary because it's the exact same thing with minor differences that he could have stated in a page and replaced with more information, like exponentiation.
The included abacus has height about that of 1 floppy disk and width of that of 1 and 1/4 floppies. It might even be smaller. Plus, it's hard to move and isn't colored (just wood and plastic).
In sum, this book is a total ripoff if you had wanted to do some cool stuff on the abacus. On the other hand, if you just wanted the book for casual purposes, maybe it's worth it. But the author's tone treats you like a moron that can't do arithmetic (he explains things like carrying and borrowing like you're in kindergarten and treats his multiplication and division methods, which are exact replicas from our normal paper ways, like the hardest things in the world)

poor and dated

This book has some nice anecdotal information on the abacus. The one that comes with it is actually fairly nice. It is a Chinese 2/5 with 9 columns. This is not really enough for multiplication and division problems. Still it isn't a bad one. The algorithms for using it in the book are wrong. For instance you properly add and subtract going from left to right. You should actually do it this way on paper. Try it, it's easier than right to left. Yes they work but are not how to use it properly. If you want to really learn how to us it get Takashi Kojima's book, "Japanese Abacus: Its Use and Theory". This book will really teach you how and includes the standard tests for third and first degree certification. Understand that most modern use of the abacus is based on the 1/4 Japanese Soroban. You will never use both 5 count beads on the top, just one. And on the bottom you will use 4 of the 5 beads. You might get confused learning proper use with a Chinese Suan Pan(abacus). Still they are nice and some have larger beads easier to work than those on a Japanese Soroban. I use an abacus for teaching my first grade twins math. They are great for kids learning how to carry etc. When I was in highschool calculators were new and expensive. I used a Soroban with my slide rule. with some practice you can actually do some remarkable things with one even in the day of cheap calculators. Moving chronologically from early triptychs such as Campin’s Mérode Triptych and Van Eyck’s Dresden Triptych to sixteenth-century works by Bosch, and closing with a discussion of Rubens, Jacobs considers how artists negotiated the idea of the threshold. From her analysis of Campin’s ambiguous divisions between the space represented across the panels, to Van der Weyden’s invention of the “arch motif” that organized relations between the viewer and the painting, to Van der Goes’s complex hierarchical structures, to Bosch’s unprecedentedly unified spaces, Jacobs shows us how Netherlandish artists’ approach to the format changed and evolved, culminating in the early seventeenth century with Rubens’s great Antwerp altarpieces.

Good textbook to rent.

Great information in the book. Got it in good condition as a rental and it got me through the course. As a student at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University majoring in Aeronautics, I didn't appreciate the subjective and business oriented demeanor of the text. Additionally it seems like the authors were just to wordy and ended up over-complicating simple subjects. If you need this book for class, renting it (IMO) is the way to go.

do not use for school

This book does have not page numbers for the iPad app. If you have assigned reading or are told to refer to what ever page for an example, you cannot go to the page. Terrible feature.

The book arrived in excellent condition and shipping was fast! This text is not as good of a teaching aid as I would have hoped for. It's a required college text. Statistics course knowledge is necessary in order to understand all of the concepts in the later chapters.

The Dark Corner 1
It was Sally Wilcox who brought up how cool Bryce Poole was and started the argument that led to their taking another trip through the Secret Path. Of course she later swore she had nothing to do with what happened. It was typical. No one, especially Sally, ever wanted to be blamed for starting an adventure, at least not in the middle of the adventure—when it looked like they would all die.

The day started as so many did that summer in Springville, known as Spooksville to all the town kids. Adam Freeman, Cindy Makey, Sally Wilcox, and Watch were together for a breakfast of milk and doughnuts. While stuffing their faces at the local coffee shop, they tried to figure out what to do with the day.

“Only a few weeks and we’ll be back in school,” Sally said, brushing her brown bangs out of her eyes. “We have to make the most of every day.”

“I’m kind of looking forward to starting school here,” Cindy, who was new to town, said. “I like learning things.”

“Summer vacation in Spooksville is more of a learning experience than anything we do in school,” Sally muttered.

“What is school like here?” Adam, who was also new to town, asked. “Is it as weird as the rest of the town?”

“It’s pretty normal,” Watch said.

“Except for a few of the teachers,” Sally added. “The ones that aren’t human.”

“How did I know you were going to say that?” Cindy asked.

“There are a couple of unusual teachers in the middle school,” Watch admitted.

Sally nodded. “There’s Mr. Castro. He teaches history, basically. But sometimes he talks about the future.”

“Don’t say it,” Cindy interrupted, flipping her long blond hair over a shoulder. “Mr. Castro’s really from the future.”

“Well, he’s not from around here,” Watch said.

“I think he was built at the North Pole,” Sally said. “If my sources are accurate.”

“I heard it was the South Pole,” Watch said.

Adam and Cindy exchanged looks. “So he’s a robot?” Adam asked.

“He’s not a desktop computer,” Sally said.

Watch spoke reluctantly. “He does seem to have several machinelike qualities. For example, he never eats lunch. He never drinks water. When he’s tired, he lays out on the football field and soaks up the sun’s rays. I guess that’s how he recharges his batteries.”

“He also has a hearing aid that looks more like a cosmic receiver,” Sally said. “He never takes it off. I hear it’s wired directly into his positronic brain.” She added, “He sure doesn’t have trouble hearing.”

Cindy shook her head. “I don’t believe any of this.”

“Wait till you get him for history,” Sally said. “And he pops his eyes out in the middle of a lecture just to clean his contact lenses.”

“You said a couple of teachers were weird,” Adam said. “Who’s the other one?”

“Mrs. Fry,” Sally said. “She teaches biology. She’s a snake.”

“She has scaly skin?” Cindy asked.

“Yes,” Sally said impatiently. “I told you, she’s a snake. When have you ever seen a snake that didn’t have scaly skin?”

“What Sally means is Mrs. Fry seems to be part snake,” Watch said. “She slides around the room and hisses all the time. Some people think she’s a descendant of a reptilian race that lived here millions of years ago.”

“Frogs are dissected all the time in her class,” Sally said. “But never snakes or lizard. And all the frog parts—well, they disappear between classes. She eats them all.”

Cindy made a face. “That’s gross.”

“You haven’t seen gross until you’ve seen Mrs. Fry shed her skin,” Sally said.

Adam didn’t know what to make of any of this. “It sounds like it’s going to be an interesting school year.”

Sally brightened. “There are some cute guys at school.”

Cindy was cautious. “Are they human?”

Sally waved her hand. “There’s this one guy, his name’s Bryce Poole, and he’s so cool. He’s like a young James Bond. Nothing disturbs him. You’ll adore him, Cindy. He’s got real dark hair, and super warm brown eyes. He’s only twelve but he doesn’t act like a kid. He talks like a well-read, sophisticated adult—like me.”

Cindy was interested. “How come we haven’t seen him this summer?”

“He’s a loner,” Sally said in a confidential tone. “He takes his own risks and he doesn’t go whining to anyone about the consequences.”

“It’s hard to imagine anyone who’s taken more risks than we did this summer,” Adam muttered.

“And I can’t remember that we ever whined to anyone,” Watch added.

Sally stopped and laughed. “Are you guys jealous of Bryce?”

Adam shrugged. “How can I be jealous of someone I’ve never met?”

“I’ve met him and he’s no big deal,” Watch said.

“What bothers you guys more?” Sally persisted. “Is it his obvious intelligence? His smoldering good looks? Or is it his dynamic attitude?”

“I told you,” Adam said, “I’ve never met the guy. I know nothing about him.”

“I’m trying to tell you about him,” Sally said. “And you’re getting all upset.” She paused. “I think you’re jealous, but you don’t have to be. I like him as a friend. There’s nothing between us.”

“I bet he’s wonderful,” Cindy gushed.

“How can you say that?” Adam, who was a little insecure about his looks and especially about his height, demanded. “You haven’t met him either.”

“But if Cindy does fall in love with him when she meets him,” Sally said, “you mustn’t stand in her way, Adam. You have to be mature about it. So Bryce is better-looking, taller, and smarter than you and Watch. It doesn’t mean you’re not worthy human beings.”

“Oh brother,” Adam muttered.

“Where’s a good place to meet him?” Cindy asked.

Sally spoke seriously. “You have to catch him coming or going. He never stays in one place long. He’s always taking some super risk to protect this town from danger.”

“Hold on a second,” Adam said. “Since I’ve been here, what has he done to protect this town? I mean, where was he when we had to deal with aliens, the Haunted Cave, the Cold People, not to mention the witch. Where was he all this time?”

“Yeah,” Watch agreed. “Bryce didn’t even bother to help us out with the Howling Ghost.”

Sally smiled condescendingly. “Bryce doesn’t deal with small crises. He only handles major ones.”

“How can you call the Cold People a small crisis?” Adam demanded. “If we hadn’t stopped them, they would have taken over the whole planet.”

“Yes, but this isn’t that big a planet,” Sally said. “Not compared to the rest of the galaxy. Bryce deals more with cosmic emergencies.”

“I thought you said he protected the town,” Adam interrupted.

“And many other places,” Sally said.

Adam and Watch looked at each other and rolled their eyes. “Like what kind of cosmic emergencies?” Adam tried again. “What is this big shot Bryce doing right now to protect us?”

Sally glanced around the coffee shop to make sure no one was listening. She spoke in a hushed tone. “Bryce is working with the Secret Path. He’s trying to halt the interdimensional flow of negativity so that it doesn’t seep into our reality.”

Adam frowned. “How do you know this?”

Sally sat back and nodded gravely. “I have my sources.”

“I don’t believe it,” Watch said. “Bryce Poole doesn’t even know what the Secret Path is. I asked him about it once and he didn’t even know where it began.”

“He was just acting like he didn’t know,” Sally said. “After I told him about our adventures on the other side of it, he told me he didn’t think you were equipped enough to survive the dangers of the interdimensional portal.”

It was Watch’s turn to frown. “Equipped with what?”

“I don’t want to get personal here,” Sally said.

“You are always personal,” Adam said dryly.

Sally was offended. “Don’t take it out on me because Cindy is suddenly interested in another guy.”

“I didn’t say I was interested,” Cindy said.

“Your voice said it all,” Sally corrected. “And I understand what Adam’s going through. I’m sympathetic. To experience raging jealously and bitter rejection for the first time is not easy.”

Adam sighed. “I am so grateful for your sympathy.”

“We’re arguing about nothing,” Watch said. “Bryce isn’t a super hero. He’s probably not ever used the Secret Path.”

“How do you know?” Sally shot back. “You’ve been afraid to use it since that first time.”

“I haven’t been afraid,” Watch said. “I’ve just been busy with other things.”

“Yeah, like saving the planet with me, his best friend,” Adam added.

“I saved the planet, too,” Sally said.

“Then you and Bryce should be perfect together,” Adam said.

Sally laughed. “You are so jealous!”

Adam got angry. “Why should I be jealous of a guy who thinks he’s James Bond? I agree with Watch. This guy has not been on the Secret Path. He doesn’t have the guts.”

Sally stood. “Why don’t we go see?”

“Go where?” Cindy asked. “See what? What is the Secret Path?”

“It winds through town and leads to other dimensions,” Watch explained.

“It starts or ends in the cemetery,” Sally added. “Depending on how you look at it. Why don’t we go there and look for signs of Bryce? Then we can see who the real hero in this town is.”

“Why would Bryce leave signs that he’s been using the Secret Path?” Watch asked.

“Yeah,” Adam said. “Who is he trying to impress?”

“You guys have an answer for everything.” Sally snickered and turned for the door. “Are you chickens coming or not?”

The way she worded the question, it was impossible to say no.

It was SOOOOO COOL! My favorite part was when Adam gives the demon some cold lemonade to be passed of as blood! I'd recommend this to anyone who likes horror stories!

these book is amazing is about the secret path, well it starts when Sally, Watch,Cindy and Adam were talking about the school, when Sally told them that there was a cute boy and its name was Bryce, and he was a hero he have many dangerous aventures.Watch and Adam were angry because they did'nt believe there was a another guy that have more aventures than they, but Adam was angry because Cindy like how Sally described him!
Sally told them that the past week she saw Bryce and he told she that he is going to go to the secret path, but he havent come...
They go to search Bryce but Cindy stay.
When they cross the secret path it was the same spooksville, but more beatiful. They went to eat something and they give them the food free! Sally wanted to go to see herself to her house, but Adam and Watch didnt want, but Sally want to go, so they went to the house of Adam. At first it seem normal but then they were horribles creatures! then they go to Spooksville and they tried to hipnotize Cindy! Bryce help to Sally, Adam and watch to escape but they can't go to Spooksville only Bryce can do it but they need a plan so bryce can escape and bring the Creatures back! Cindy risked her life so here really friends can escape!

Hey if someone have read Creappy Creature, Phone Fear or Witch give please you can tell me? Because I live in Mexico and here the book Spooksville finished in number 21 (living dead) really I am vey anxious to know what happend if Adam and Cindy will be boyfriends or if Cindy broke with Bryce. They think they will find nice things in this city, but they think wrong when they find out demons are out to get them. Sally, Adam, and Watch talk there way out of being eaten. Cindy gets Brain to come and save them. Will he be able to? You read it and find out.IT's one of his best. Everybook I read by him was GREAT!!! Not a singial book i read by him was Stupid, dumb, ETC.... Read this Book TODAY!!!

Good in theory...

Okay, I was incredibly psyched to get this book, and when I received it, you couldn't tear me away from it for hours. I read the entire thing, making notes all over it for actual application. The only other soap book I had read up to that point was Basic Soap Making, which is really helpful, but I was ready to up my game. The beautiful and stunning directives in this book really turned on my inner creativity, and I was ready to get to business. However, the actual application of the techniques are not as seamless as one would expect.

I immediately tried two different recipes from this book. The first was the "pumpkin swirl" recipe. Then I tried the coffee soap recipe. Both of them had the exact same problem, and I will try my best to walk you through the issue.

Firstly, I only used the EXACT ingredients listed by the author, who incidentally owns Brambleberry, which she guiltlessly plugs every chance she gets. The fragrance oils and specialty ingredients you can only get at Brambleberry. The delivery time is unbelievably long, so expect to wait at least a week before you can do any of the recipes you have saved up with those specialty ingredients. I waited a week and a half for one fragrance oil, which was supposedly in stock, but they didn't ship until 5 days after my order placed.

I decided to start with the pumpkin recipe because it was one of the easier color techniques. It's a basic swirl made by pouring, and I've had enough soap success to figure I could do that one easily. However, I failed at this recipe SIX times. I followed it to the T, when I started looking online for help. Then I emailed Anne-Marie herself at Brambleberry. The problem was the same in every batch. As soon as I added the fragrance oil, the soap seized. I tried every single trick in the book to prevent this. I made sure both the oils and lye solution were the exact same temp of 115 degrees. I tried adding the FO before the Lye. I tried whisking boiling water as I added the FO. Nothing worked. I even joined an online forum and tried all their suggestions.

In the end, I emailed Brambleberry, explaining I was using a recipe from their book with all the exact ingredients in the exact method they had suggested and my recipe wasn't working at all. Unfortunately, the person that responded only repeated that I try the methods I already told them I had tried. When I responded that maybe they should actually read my email and try again, they suggested I use a different FO, even though it was THEIR FO that the recipe called for. Sigh.

Also, the most useful part of the whole book, aside from color techniques, is an in-depth look at the properties of the oils used in soap making. I found this section extremely useful. However, I noticed that in several recipes, Anne-Marie broke her own rules for using the oils. For instance, not using more then 25% palm oil in any recipe. In the recipe I was having trouble with, the palm oil was being used at 31%. After I adjusted the recipe based on the rules and used a completely different FO (from another company - wholesalesuppliesplus.com), I didn't have any more issues. Basically, the recipes are a nice starting point, but you might check the percentages and double-check the suggested FO to make sure it doesn't accelerate trace. To use the beautiful color patterns listed in the book, you need to have the longest trace possible to give you time to work.

In general, I feel that this book is a great addition to my soap-making library, but certainly NOT the definitive book on soap making. A nice guideline for techniques, but not perfection in recipes.

The only Soaping book you'll need

I started soaping this year and have read at least 8 soaping books to date. Just received this book today and looked through every page. I thought this book would be strictly on design techniques but it turns out to be a comprehensive book that even beginners would appreciate. Unlike other soaping books, this one is RICH with step by step pictures of the cold process as well as the final product. Anne-Marie covers safety guidelines, equipment, oils, colorants, essential oils and fragrances as well creative molds, additives and swirls. If you are want to buy only one soaping book, this one will give you all the information you need to get started and advance in the soap crafting passion.

Similar to other soap crafting books

After reading this book, I felt that, while it was a reasonable book on soap making, it did not add much new material of significance to the current soap making literature. There are a number of recipes included within this book, but not much explanation as to why different oils were used in each recipe and why a particular combination was used. The section on new/unique swirls was interesting, but I do wish the author had gone into more detail on what molds were used for which swirls and the limitations of each. I feel like this is a section where the author could have really pushed this book beyond what others have published, but alas, that did not turn out to be the case.

Overall, this is a fine general soap crafting book that does focus on the coloring technique that are now popular. However, these techniques can be found with a simple Google search, and I'm not sure that having them in book form is really worth the purchase of this book.
