A solid introduction to Ember.js and its ecosystem

This is a solid introduction to Ember.js, as well as ember-cli and ember-data. The book doesn't go into great depth, but it touches on all the important parts of the framework.

I've found it hard to learn Ember.js, because the framework has been in flux and much of the online documentation is out of date. For example, Ember's controllers are scheduled to be deprecated, but a lot of the Ember tutorials were written when controllers were an important part of an Ember application. In this book, the author says: "The Ember team plans to deprecate controllers early in the 2.x release cycle, in favor of performing similar work in the route or in components. Future versions of this book will follow suit, and for now, we’re avoiding using controllers as much as possible." At the time of writing this review, there's not a lot of good advice available online on how to avoid using controllers, which makes the examples in this book all the more valuable.

I also appreciate the way that this book doesn't get distracted by introducing addons for this, that, and the next thing. Each chapter contains a sidebar that points you in the direction of an addon that you might find useful, and those suggestions give you plenty more to read up on if you want.

I've been using Ember.js for about a year now and I wish that I had read this book sooner.

I bought the electronic version and liked the way content is presented

I bought the electronic version and liked the way content is presented. As a new learner of Ember I found this book a great introduction how to work with Ember, with very clear and up to date explanations. It contains tips on useful addons from the Ember addons ecosystem as well as developing and publishing your own addon. It is not a long book so the reader can quickly get started working on apps but perhaps an additional more in depth chapter on how the Ember framework functions behind the scenes would be useful for better understanding.

About the Author
Marie Louise Stig Sørensen is a Reader in Archaeology at the University of Cambridge and Professor of Bronze Age Studies at Leiden University. She coordinates the University of Cambridge's postgraduate degree programme in archaeological heritage and museums, one of the first degree courses in this field. She has considerable research experience, including partnerships on projects such as the EU project Emergence of European Societies, the Leverhulme-funded project Changing Beliefs of the Human Body, the Hera-funded Investigation of Creativity and Craft Production in Middle and Late Bronze Age Europe, and the Cultural Heritage and the Reconstruction of Identities after Conflict - EU FP7 (CRIC) project. Her publications include Heritage Studies: Methods and Approaches (co-edited with John Carman, 2009).

Dacia Viejo-Rose is a British Academy Postdoctoral Fellow (2012-14) based at the University of Cambridge. Her current research project is on cultural violence and violence against culture. She is the author of Reconstructing Spain: Cultural Heritage and Memory after Civil War (2011). Viejo-Rose was coordinator of the European Cultural Foundation's UK national committee, organising a series of seminars at Chatham House (2003-5). She also worked at UNESCO in the Department of Cultural Policies for Development (2000-2), where she managed the UNESCO Cities for Peace Prize. She was a Postdoctoral Fellow on the Cultural Heritage and the Reconstruction of Identities after Conflict - EU FP7 (CRIC) project.

This book doesn't go extremely in depth into any one chiropractic subject, but that's not really what it was made for. It covers a wide variety of topics including philosophy, history, care, diagnoses, and research. Good for learning about the basics of what chiropractic is, where it came from, and what its applications are.

Why no page numbers?

I don't like the fact that all kindle books don't use page numbers. It uses location numbers. This is a text book and my professor assigns reading pages based on page number not location numbers. So I have to find someone with a hard copy to find what I am looking for. I don't recommend using kindle for text books for this exact reason.

sad end for a good book. nice quality

I purchased this for a class. It was of good quality and arrived on time.
Unfortunately, my cat urinated on it within a few weeks and I ended up
tossing most of it in the trash. In the end, I didn't really need it for the
class that much, but it appeared to be a good book.

About the Author
Award-winning Tennessee sculptor Lundy Cupp never knew he could carve anything until picking up a pocketknife at age 47. But the former criminal fraud investigator and bounty hunter made a major life change, and now pursues his art as a full time career. Excellen book on Xuan Kong Da Gua

I have read many Feng Shui books, this is one of the best books on Xuan Kong Da gua. Joy Yap books are way expensive and need to by 3 of them to get the information in this single book. Definitly not for beginners. After alll the title says Master Level. This book is not even for average Feng Shui practioners who simply practice Black Hat or Pakua Lo Shu techniques. One thing can be assured if you understand the content of this book then you have undesrtood the Space dimension of Feng Shui.

One may have to use some software or cheat sheets to get all of corelations between Hexa grams built.

A Good Supplement for XKDG Students

There aren't many books written on this subject. I knew of one one of the authers from a Feng Shui forum as a knowledgable person on this field and I wanted to try the book. And I am happy I did. I find it to be a good supplement for serious XKDG student. What I like most about this book, the authers point out repeatedly that applications of XKDG must not violate the Flying Stars.

Amazing game development course!

I think the title is wrong, this isn't just a programming book, this is a complete game development course, the author starts by talking about what you will have at the end, them he introduces every game talking about the foundations not just code and result, you are introduced to good practices to achieve your game complete, it is fundamental in my opinion to have a project complete, the programming part is really good as he is presenting the critical points of the game structure in natural basis, you understand what he does because you understand the need of that code part. I think that the difficult of this book is between intermediate to advanced, but he made a book that everyone who wants to make a mobile game can start with solid basis. All the projects has its own focus and difficult level, I think they shown almost every feature you need to make a good 2d mobile game.

Fantastic book and i would give 10 stars if possible! i have to disagree with another review i have seen about the book not being useful to developers at beginner level, although the book intro does assume you have some development knowledge it all depends on what you are looking to take from this book! i am practically new to android game development and needed to know more on game loops and sprites and i got this know how by reading this book and putting it to practice with the games made in this book so even from a beginners point of view i have to say that what i have took from this book has been a massive help towards my understanding of what it takes to get games built and running! java code in any book anywhere can seem daunting to all of us but by using examples i find it is the best method and by example is exactly what this book shows, if you still do not get whats happening in code then simply go over it again as with everything in life, things become clearer the more you practice.
Before i read and used the examples in this book i was at a stand still with my games development and was annoyed with my self as was trying to take so much information in from a number of different sources it was really taking a toll on me but when i came accross this book it ticked all the right boxes and i am glad i gave my time to read this as all this time it was one source i really needed to focus on with the right information and it happend to be the best choice i made investing my time into this because it gave me everything i needed to know and more! i am now confident with my own looping and sprites, and much better ways of the headach i was having with fps, this book is not just good to give a once over! for me it is also an ideal reference book.
The way the book has been written is very straight forward and informative this makes it easy to follow, you can copy and paste the code or download the code if you have a paperback copy however if your new to development and really keen to learn i find that by writing the code myself gives me that bit extra of my learning progress and comes across clearer then copy and pasting chunks of code.
I hope this book helps you all as much as it has helped me, if your really serious about android games development then you can never have enough learning books, i do highly recommend to add this to your front collection.

I am soooo thrilled to have my own copy of this book. Grandma's autobiography speaks in her own, often lyrical, charming voice. Every American should hear (read) her talk. Without realizing it, the reader learns a great deal of what life was like in the mid-late 1800's and early 1900's for the majority of people who lived in an agriculturally based society. AND... Anna Mary's attitude about life seeps into you and helps you revel in life as she did.
